RiskPlus is a B2B SaaS platform that helps German water utility companies comply with government regulations for water safety risk management. As Product Manager at Disy Informationssysteme GmbH, I led this product from inception to seven figures in revenue within the first year.

The Challenge

After launching successfully with a team of three full-time developers, we faced a critical decision point when development resources were reallocated. Rather than letting the product stagnate, I proposed and executed an innovative solution: rebuilding the entire platform as a solo developer using AI-assisted development.

AI-Powered Transformation

In just 8 weeks, I completely rebuilt RiskPlus from the ground up using AI pair programming, achieving:

  • Cost Savings: Six figures in development costs saved
  • Velocity: Shipping features faster than the original 3-person team
  • Quality: Maintained production-grade code quality with comprehensive stakeholder validation

Key Features Delivered

Catchment Area Overview Interactive catchment area management with geospatial data visualization

The platform enables water utilities to:

  • Map and manage water catchment areas with PostGIS-powered geospatial features
  • Conduct comprehensive risk analyses following regulatory requirements
  • Document and track hazards
  • Generate compliance reports for regulatory authorities

Risk Analysis Dashboard Comprehensive risk analysis workflow with regulatory compliance tracking

Technical Implementation

The rebuilt architecture leverages:

  • Backend: Python/Flask with SQLAlchemy ORM
  • Frontend: Svelte 5 for reactive UI components
  • Database: PostgreSQL with PostGIS for spatial data
  • Maps: OpenLayers for interactive geospatial visualization
  • Deployment: Docker-based containerization with CI/CD pipelines

Hazard Management Hazard identification and management interface

Product Management Excellence

Beyond the technical rebuild, I maintained full product management responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Management: Regular coordination with TZW (technical water utility partner) and C-suite
  • Customer Success: Weekly webinars and demos, maintaining high customer satisfaction
  • Strategic Planning: Clear product roadmap aligned with regulatory requirements
  • Go-to-Market: Pricing strategy and sales support that drove 7-figure revenue

Impact

This project demonstrates the transformative potential of AI in software development when combined with deep domain knowledge and product management expertise. By embracing AI as a development partner, I turned a potential product crisis into a case study for innovation, delivering more value with fewer resources while maintaining quality and customer trust.
